In 2006 due to the dilapidated condition of the building, the hall was hardly used and rental income was at an all time low, barely covering the operational cost of keeping the hall open.
As the committee receive no other cash or regular income from government, local council or Parish Council towards the operational costs, another source of income had to be found and in February 2007 the Holbeach Hurn Village Hall 100 Club was started. Since then £2,156 has been paid in prizes and the village hall has benefited by £2,156. This money has been used for cosmetic repairs to the hall, new radiators and more recently towards the 100 new chairs.
Since the purchase of the hall and completion of the recent refurbishment, there are more regular users and although this income currently covers operational costs, funds are still needed towards the planned external repairs.
If together, as a village we could increase the numbers sold to 100, this would generate 3 monthly prizes of £50, £30, £20 and be an enormous help towards funds required for further refurbishment to the village hall.
The 100 Club is registered with South Holland District Council under the small Lotteries Act.
